Q. What should I expect from PBD?
A. PBD will negotiate the best deals available in the marketplace. Research new trends, ideas and programs, and provide you wiht the tools to maximize your profitability at a minimum effort.
Q. How do I join PBD?
A. Simply fill out a New Member Survey and Marketing Application, and forward it to the PBD West HQ office. The PBD Field Marketing Representative (FMR) in your area will contact you to arrange an in-store visit and comprehensive presentation.

Q. How do I get my rebate check and how often can I expect it?
A. The rebate checks are issued quarterly from the PBD West HQ office. You should receive your first check about 45 days after the end of the quarter, and approximately 90 days thereafter.
Q. Do I have to pay for my PBD membership? How do I pay?
A. A small membership fee is automatically generated and deducted directly from your quarterly check so that you will never have to send a payment to PBD. The maximum fee is $200.00 per quarter for $5,000.00 and above per quarter.
Q. How does PBD figure dealer fees?
A. The dealer fee is based on your total rebate amount for the quarter. $0.00 -$1,000.00 is 10%, $1001.00 and above is an additional 2.5%, not to exceed $200.00 per quarter. For example a check for $1,500.00 would pay the following: $100.00 for the first $1,000 + $12.50 for the next $500.00, for a total of $112.50. A fee is not deducted for the value of free product or equipment placement.
Q. Will I get a 1099 for tax purposes?
A. Corporations or locations with yearly rebate totals under $600.00 will not receive a 1099, all other locations will receive a 1099.
Q. How often will I see my PBD Field Marketing Representative?
A. You will see your PBD FMR a minimum of once per month, but they are available at any time to answer questions or assist with service or product issues.
Q. What should I expect from my PBD Field Marketing Representative’s visit?
A. Your PBD FMR will offer a presentation of all new and ongoing programs and promotions. They will help you with store compliance to ensure the highest amount of rebate. This visit will also include time to handle any challenges you might be encountering. A normal visit is between 30 and 45 minutes.
Q. If I am not an ExxonMobil station, can I still join PBD?
A. If you already own an ExxonMobil, and you are a current PBD member in good standing, and you fly other petroleum flags, all of your locations are eligible for the benefits of the PBD program.
Q. Will my membership with PBD conflict with ExxonMobil?
A. No, it will not. As a matter of fact, PBD works side-by-side with ExxonMobil to enhance your franchise profitability.
Q. If I don’t buy from a PBD authorized distributor, can I still make money through PBD?
A. Although we encourage our members to support our vendor and distributor partners, if you are a current member and do not buy from an authorized distributor, yes, you can still make money through PBD. Potential rebates on product and programs include tobacco, beverage, ATM, magazine publications, Frito-Lay, and other independent DSD programs to name a few. Unfortunately, you will not be entitled to rebates for any promotions tracked and reported through the distributor.
Q. How do I switch to CoreMark, Franklin Supply or HT Hackney?
A. Simply call your PBD FMR and we will help you with all the arrangements.
Q. I am having service or delivery issues, how can PBD help?
A. PBD West will contact our Key Account Manager, bypassing layers of management, to resolve your issue in a short period of time to your satisfaction.
Q. How does PBD make money?
A. PBD’s revenues are generated through marketing services, growth incentives, promotional advertising, brokering deals between manufacturers and distributors, membership dues, and proprietary equipment.
Q. What are the benefits of the PBD National Tobacco Program?
A. PBD’s National Tobacco Program utilizes it’s buying power of over 2000 members nation wide to secure Display Payments, Buydowns and enhanced Promotions from up to 5 Different Tobacco companies. These Companies include Philip Morris, RJ Reynolds, Brown & Williamson, Lorillard and Liggett Vector Brands.
PBD provides a proprietary back bar fixture to our participating members at no cost. This fixture is customized to each location and ensures compliance with a member’s Tobacco Company partners as well as adherence to all Federal and Local laws.
Q. How can I increase my Tobacco Category Profits by joining the PBD National Tobacco Program?
A. Typically Tobacco Companies require virtual exclusivity when they contract with a retailer for the purposes of Display Payments, buydowns or Promotions. Because PBD has over 2000 members nation wide, we are able to secure these payments and promotions form up to 5 Companies. The PBD program also secures Buydown funding from the big 4 Tobacco Companies, which allows a retailer to be competitive in their pricing. In addition PBD works with The Tobacco Companies to make sure their members receive Buy Some Get Some Type Promotions. All of these factors combine to send the message that you are in the Tobacco business and allow you to maximize the profitability of the category.
Q. Why must I sign a 3 year agreement to join the PBD Tobacco Program?
A. The PBD Back Bar Fixture is a $5,000 value. This cost includes the initial installation, as well as yearly resets to modify the Fixture or to change the Plan-O-Gram to meet tobacco companies changing display requirements. The cost of this fixture is funded primarily by our Tobacco Company partners. In order to make this investment worthwhile the Tobacco companies require a minimum 3 year commitment to the PBD Tobacco Program.
Q. What if I need repairs or replacement parts to for my PBD Back Bar Fixture
A. You should contact your PBD Field marketing representative or the Regional Tobacco Category manager. They will order the required parts so that your fixture always looks it’s best.
